Q: Tell us about you, Kira Kener. What did you want to be when you were growing up?
Kira Kener: I had a very normal childhood. I wasn't a very girly girl, like some. I had a very traditional, small town kind of up-bringing. I guess you could say in a sense, I was a tom-boy. I loved to laugh, play, and just have fun.
Q: How did you go from down home sweetheart to porn star?
Kira Kener: Like many before me, I fell into a bad situation and began dancing for money. It was simply a job and I never mix business with pleasure. Some of the Vivid girls would appear in a club I was working at and they introduced me to the executives at Vivid. They liked my professional outlook on things and gave me a chance. By this time I had already won a few awards for exotic dancing and after signing an exclusive contract with Vivid, I began making movies for them and now here we are.
Q: You seem very down to earth and not anything like someone would think a big star would be like. You're so normal and nice.
Kira Kener: Thank you. I think? I try not to let things go to my head. I realize that what I do is just a job. I am no better than any of the other 1000's of girls that do what I do. In most cases, I may work for a better company than they do, but that only means that I am lucky, not that I am special. I've seen some of the appalling conditions the other girls work under and it's really sad. I get to go to work on a clean set, with really sexy guys. I have it made.
Q: What do you think about the girls that do get out of hand? The girls that think the world revolve around them and start making major demands on the studios?
Kira Kener: What I think is that those are the girls who won't have their contract renewed. Beautiful girls are everywhere. Not a one of us is so special that we can't be easily replaced. Sure a lot of fans might be disappointed if we didn't get a new contract and had to leave the business or go work for some sleazy porn company, like some girls have, but in the end, what sells is a beautiful face and a hot body. If you want that face and body to be yours, you better start appreciating all you have.
Q: I can see why people like you so much. You are very straight forward and professional with your views of the business side of adult entertainment. But now let's talk about the personal side. What's it like to be Kira Kener? I bet you can have any guy you want.
Kira Kener: HA! I wished. The girls at Vivid are like family. They are really helpful to the new talent and so I was well warned ahead of time what being a Vivid girl meant to my personal life.
Q: What do you mean?
Kira Kener: Well at first it wasn't so bad. But after I had made a few movies, men became fans of the fantasy of who I was, not the real me. They wanted the Kira seen in a movie. That's a hard image to live up to. When I wake up, I don't jump out of bed in full make up and 6 inch heels. Like other girls, I have to get up, take a shower, put on that makeup and I never wear 6 inch heels when I'm not working. I'm a jeans and t-shirt kind of girl.
Q: So what is your personal life like?
Kira Kener: I'm really kind of boring. I like simple things, like a good book or watching movies. As for the men in my life? Well, to be honest, it's not very easy meeting guys. Many guys now have seen my movies and are really afraid to approach me. If they do, it's usually just to get my autograph or something like that. Occasionally I'll meet a nice guy, who will do something like buy me a drink and have the waitress send it over. That's always kind of sweet. The best way for a guy to get to know me is to be a friend, not a fan.
Q: Hopefully you have some wonderful advice to give us about sex. Tell us about what kind of toys you like.
Kira Kener: Eeek! That's a hard one. Oh! I know .... I'll tell you about my favorite sex toy. It was a gift from Janine.
