Former President Bill Clinton’s round of golf had a porn star connection the other day.

A story in the Las Vegas Review-Journal reported that Clinton was preparing to hit his second shot on the fifth hole at Las Vegas Country Club on Saturday when Secret Service agents halted a birthday party fireworks event.

It’s a birthday that the 5-year-old daughter of 28-year-old Club Jenna exclusive Sophia Rossi won’t forget, the newspaper reported.

The story reported that Rossi’s daughter was preparing to launch a remote control 18-inch rocket when Clinton’s bodyguards “came out of nowhere” and had the launch scrubbed.

Bobby McKelvey, who had just set up the rocket on the edge of the fairway in the backyard of Rossi’s home, recalls hearing the stern words, “Sir, do not fire that rocket.”

He looked up and saw two badge-flashing Secret Service agents running toward him, while three more agents came out from behind trees.

“We cannot have you shooting rockets at President Clinton,” said one of the agents as he approached the party of 80, McKelvey told the Review-Journal.

Clinton, in a party of more than a dozen, was about 50-75 yards away, said McKelvey, 41, who described himself as Rossi’s manager.

Rossi, a busty blonde who grew up in Las Vegas, told the Review-Journal, “I’m just disappointed I didn’t get a photo with him.”

Thursday evening’s 22nd annual awards banquet presented by the X-Rated Critics Organization (XRCO) saw the Digital Playground/Adam & Eve co-production Pirates reign triumphant once again, as the title was crowned with the prestigious trifecta of Best Release, Best Epic and Best Director honors.

In keeping with the tradition of years past, the show, held at the Century Club, was rowdy and cacophonous, with hardly a word uttered on stage penetrating the din of audience chatter. But then, what else could one expect when such distractions are occurring in every corner of the room as Sierra Sinn dousing Lukeford.com writer Scott Fayner with alcohol, and Jenna Haze making out with new girl Lela Star?

Regardless, presenters made their jokes — a particularly fun running bit, for those who managed to pick up on it, involved Stormy Daniels cat-clawing with Lauren Phoenix by spitting such jabs at her as, “Shouldn’t you be out gaping somewhere?” — and winners made their acceptance speeches.

Perhaps the best of the latter came from New Starlet victor Hillary Scott, who shouted, “I’d like to thank my asshole, because you’re my best friend, and you’re so entertaining!” Coming off the stage, Scott told AVN she felt “all warm and fuzzy, and I’m gonna go fuck my wife right now; I’m gonna eat her pussy in celebration of my winnings.”

Ron Jeremy, who presented the climactic (rim shot, please) three awards of the evening, said he had a good time, though he complained that, “I think I should have won the Media crossover award — 11 films and four TV shows, all at Blockbuster, all on network, you know?” Asked if there were any surprises for him other than that, he replied, “Well, people will be surprised when they see how I did on The Surreal Life, coming out in September on VH1.”

Teagan Presley, who’s been re-inserting herself into the spotlight since bouncing back from the birth of her daughter, commented, “All the girls on stage were pretty funny.” As to being part of the continually-award-lavished Pirates, she said, “It’s an incredible sensation. I mean, you go into any video store, and you know that they’ve sold out of the movie.”

Another girl presently re-establishing her presence in the industry, Vivid’s Cassidey, informed us that this was her first XRCO Awards, and that she was having a blast. “I fuckin’ love it,” she exclaimed. “I’m seeing people I haven’t seen in, like, six years, and it’s crazy, but it’s fun. It’s pretty cool. This is way better than the AVN’s, just because it’s more intimate. I mean, the AVN Awards, I don’t think you really see bitches throwing punches and shit like that.”

XRCO co-founder William Margold, who presented the Hall of Fame awards, echoed Cassidey’s thoughts somewhat, saying, “This is the show that, when [Jim] Holliday and I conceived it, we put it together because we love the performers. This is for the performers, by the performers. Let AVN be the commercial awards; I don’t think AVN cares much about the sexuality as they do about the economics of the X-rated industry, which is alright, because they are the bible for a godless business.

“The XRCO represents a unique cross section of critics, some of whom are on AVN. I think the people with AVN shouldn’t vote for the XRCO Awards; that would make the AVN Awards more exclusive, and the XRCO Awards more exclusive. I don’t think the crossover should really continue, because then it makes it a little more special when you win the award. That way, other people will win awards, maybe. Or maybe not. But I’m only here for one reason, that’s the history.”

And the history, of the XRCO, anyway, is as follows: Founded in 1984 by Margold and Holliday, it was designed to give professional working critics a voice in selecting the yearly best in X-rated movies. It was chaired by Jared Rutter until 2004, when he accepted his current position of senior editor at AVN, though he is still considered the “Honorary Chairman.” His duties at the XRCO were assumed by long-time members “Dirty Bob” Krotts and Dick Freeman. -AVN

Colin Farrell and former Playboy Playmate Nicole Narain have settled their respective lawsuits involving a sex tape of the couple, according to the New York Daily News.

Farrell sued Narain last summer when it was revealed she was peddling the tape to the highest bidder. The 15-minute tape shows the two engaging in various sex acts while they were together in 2003.

Farrell had sought to stop Narain, Playboy’s Playmate of the Month in February 2002, from selling the tape which he claimed was to be jointly owned by them and would remain private.

Narain’s lawyer, Leodis Matthews, said the settlement was amicable, but added that the terms were confidential.

Farrell, however, said his lawsuit against Arizona-based Internet Commerce Group would continue. The company signed a deal with Narain in March which would have paid the one-time Playmate $3 million for the tape if she was successful in her suit against the Irish actor.

Farrell is seeking an unspecified amount of money for actual and punitive damages.

He filed his suit last summer against the company.

It’s unclear whether ICG would sue Narain for alleged breach of contract by settling with Farrell. -AVN

Penthouse Media Group obtained the assets of Jill Kelly Productions (JKP) on Monday in a two-hour auction in Bankruptcy Court in Woodland Hills.

The winning bid was $1,765,000. Penthouse outbid three other qualified buyers: Playboy Entertainment Group, New Frontier Media and XGen LLC, which is owned by Frank and Michael Koretsky, who were the initial buyers. The bidding started at $725,000.

Marc Bell, CEO of Penthouse, told AVN that the company is very happy with the acquisition. “JKP has a great library, with amazing titles and great talent…as we get closer to launching our own broadcast network, we’re looking to expand our library.” When asked about the price of the acquisition, Bell said that Penthouse “went in there with no expectations.”

The Penthouse owner also explained that, as of right now, the company will be keeping the Penthouse name on the acquired titles, as Jill Kelly retains the trademark on her name. “Penthouse is a name that is known and trusted, worldwide,” Bell added.

XGen’s last bid was $1,250,000; Playboy’s final bid was $1,285,000 and New Frontier’s last bid was $1,755,000. Penthouse was represented by its legal team which did not wish to comment. JKP was represented by attorneys Todd Becker and John Hayes. Jill Kelly was present for a brief time at the proceedings, as was former CEO Philip Starr.

“Penthouse made a really great acquisition. Jill Kelly Productions always put out a quality product and I’m sure Penthouse will have success with it in the future.” Starr told AVN. The former JKP CEO was slightly surprised that the assets were obtained at such a high price. “I thought it would go for somewhere around $1,500,000…but the company is worth every penny.”

The assets auctioned included, but were not limited to JKP’s entire adult library and related masters and other footage, accounts receivables, JK Distribution, Inc., and DVD and other inventory.

“It was pretty amazing how high the bidding went,” Aram Ordubegian, counsel for a group of unsecured creditors, told AVN. “But it had been our contention all along that [JKP] was worth substantially more than what was initially offered by XGen.” The unsecured creditors committee was appointed by the court.

Ordubegian went on to say that the acquisition was a really great opportunity for any company that could exploit it properly. “Would it have been better if it was a running company that was auctioned off, sure,” offered Ordubegian, “but this was the next best thing, and it was a spectacular result.”

This all comes after Jill Kelly Productions filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection in August of ’05. In the three months leading up to that action, the company lost its former CEO, president, three contract girls and its publicist, among others, and owed millions to secured and unsecured creditors.

Former JKP CEO Bob Friedland fled to New York, sources said, where he has not been heard from since. Former president Jill Kelly left the organization in June of ‘05, and then the company’s final three contract girls, Jenna Haze, Tyra and Nikki Benz, separately announced their departures, followed by publicist Scott Hoover.

All interested bidders had to post a deposit in the form of a certified check payable to the Trust Account of Weinstein, Eisen & Weiss LLP in the amount of $100,000 at least two court days before the auction. The deposits were held by counsel until the conclusion of the auction. Now the deposit from the successful bidder, Penthouse, will be deposited and become non-refundable and the remaining deposits will be returned to the unsuccessful bidders. Penthouse Media Group now must close by paying the remainder of the purchase price 12 days after entry of the order approving the sale. The sale is “as is,” “where is,” with no warranties of any kind.

XGen was JKP’s only secured creditor and will still get the $500,000 it is owed. -AVN
